Limited Driver Examination Services Available
Ontario’s driver examination services are delivered at DriveTest Centres, operated by Serco DES Inc. on behalf of the Ministry of Transportation.
Unionized employees at Ontario's DriveTest Centres are currently on strike and most driver examination services are unavailable until further notice. Ban On Hand-Held Devices Now Ontario Law
It's now the law - the use of hand-held cell phones and other wireless devices while driving is prohibited in Ontario. The new distracted driving law makes it illegal for drivers to talk, text, type, dial or email using hand-held cell phones and other hand-held communications and entertainment devices. Hands-free use of these devices will still be permitted. Read more

McGuinty Government Making It Easier To Buy Electric Vehicles
Ontario's target is to become a world leader in building and driving electric cars.
The McGuinty government aims to have one out of every 20 vehicles driven in Ontario to be electrically powered by 2020. This would put Ontarians into cleaner, more efficient vehicles, and expand the electric vehicle market for manufacturers.
Starting today the people of Ontario can vote on the design of the new green licence plates.
Apply Today For Your Enhanced Driver's Licence
Ontario drivers who are Canadian citizens can now apply for the Ontario Enhanced Driver’s Licence.
Nine ServiceOntario centres are now accepting applications for this passport alternative, which can be used at Canada-U.S. land and water border crossings.
Those who wish to apply for a licence should visit www.ServiceOntario.ca to book an application appointment. Appointments will be available starting May 19, 2009 with the first batch of licences projected for delivery by June 1, 2009.

Looking for Compass cameras?
Compass cameras are now part of the Travellers Road Information Portal (TRIP). TRIP also offers information on: Road Closures and Restrictions, Winter Road Conditions, Construction, Traffic Flow, Car Pool Lots and High Occupancy Vehicle (HOV) Lanes on provincially maintained highways.
TRIP also has a telephone hotline 1-800-268-4686 or 416-235-4686. The hotline uses voice recognition and text-to-speech technology, with touch tone commands available for people with difficulty using voice commands.
